Good Friday Service on the Beach

Lisa Russell

We are excited to meet together for the first time in a long time this Good Friday, 11am-12pm at Bachelor Bay Beach, West Vancouver. The recent ruling regarding religious in-person gatherings allow us to meet in groups of up to 50 in the outdoors. This is a wonderful opportunity and fits perfectly with our annual Good Friday service, which we have usually held outdoors. The service will include two or three songs for meditation, proclamation and reflection; a short message; communion; and an open sharing time.

There are a couple things, however, that we need from you to make this happen:

  • Register your attendance here  https://rsvp.church/r/Q9iHfdyr. We need you and the members of your family / friends to pre-register your attendance. And If you have already RSVP’d to me via email, please re-register using the enclosed form. Unfortunately, we cannot admit anyone who has not registered ahead of time.
  • We have allotted 100 spaces and if we have more than 50 people register, we will divide into two groups at two separate beaches.
  • We will be complying with the BC orders for outdoor gathering http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/community-settings/faith-based-spiritual-and-worship-practices. So anyone 12 years and older will have to wear a mask. And also family groups will be spaced by social distancing. We all have been doing this for over a year now, so we trust everyone understands what is required.

Our ability to continue to peaceably gather in this manner will depend on each of us doing our best to respect the government’s requests. We recognize that this will be difficult for some. As a leadership, we are encouraging us a body to see the opportunities and the blessing in this rather than the added restrictions. And also to continue to focus our gaze on Jesus and the incredible blessing we enjoy through His sacrifice for us on the cross.

We look forward to seeing you soon. We have always had decent weather on Good Friday for our services. However, please bring appropriate clothes in the event that the weather shifts.
