Vision and Values

OUR VISION IS SIMPLE: JESUS.

We believe in Jesus and we believe that He is exactly who he claimed to be in the bible – the son of God, the saviour of the world, the resurrected King. We believe that He is the way, the truth, and the life and that He is the only way to be reconciled with God, our creator and our heavenly father. Our vision and desire is that you should know Him and, if you already know Him, that you will live your life abundantly and in freedom. Jesus paid the ultimate price so that you, me, and every person on earth can live free from sin, sickness, regret, loneliness, and despair. He is more than just a guru or a good man; He is the beginning of the story, He is the end of the story, and He is everything in between. We honour Jesus as central to everything we do.

GOD’S WORD

We believe that The Bible is the inspired and eternal word of God. We believe that it is as vital and relevant now as it has ever been. We believe that God’s word provides an unshakable rock that we can stand and build on in the midst of a constantly shifting culture. We are convinced that faith in the word of God has the power to save, set free, and equip every person with purpose and success. Because of this, we delight to proclaim God’s word in our meetings and regularly teach from its books.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that when Jesus left with the promise to return, He sent us the most amazing and vital gift. This gift was the person of the Holy Spirit, the very spirit of God, given to indwell all those who believe in Jesus, to equip, comfort, teach, and lead us in righteousness and in preparation for Jesus’ promised return. The Holy Spirit is our mentor and our guide and we as a leadership are in constant communication with Him regarding everything that we do.

As a church, our desire is not to be needs or program driven, but Spirit led. Our times together reflect our desire to honour the Holy Spirit, His leading, and His gifts, recognizing that the christian community is a reflection of Christ’s body and that the Holy Spirit gives different gifts to all of us so that we may all be encouraged and built up. We allow room in our meeting times for people to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and to respond accordingly.

PRAYER

Revolution Church is a praying church. We believe 100% that prayer is the way that we partner with God to release His will on earth. Our Father in heaven has invited us to come boldly to Him, to make our requests know, to prophecy and proclaim and to give Him all thanks and glory. Prayer is a central value to Revolution Church and it is through prayer that our vision takes form.
We believe in praying in the Spirit (speaking in tongues) and praying with our understanding (in our own native language) according to 1 Corinthians 14:15. We believe in praying for healing, deliverance and for miracles just as Jesus did.

HONOURING GOD’S PRESENCE

It is very important to us that (more then any other person) that God’s person and presence is honoured in our times together. It is a very precious thing to know that God is physically with us and to have Him minister to us personally and corporately through His Holy Spirit. We want to stay humble, honour Him when He speaks and ministers to us, and make room and expect to grow in our understanding of God’s ways.

EQUIPPING GOD’S PEOPLE

As leaders, we are convinced of the model for church as expressed in Ephesians 4, and in particular vs. 11-13 “Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”
When we lay down the clergy/lay model of church and embrace God’s model that recognizes every child of God as priests and ministers to God and to each other, we will become a mature and vibrant church, reflecting the diversity and gifts of all the people. This is a process of unlearning and relearning as we surrender to God’s word and the Holy Spirit’s leading. As pastors of Revolution Church, we are regularly seeking God in ways to release, and encourage the saints in their gifts and calling.

REVOLUTION CHURCH

We believe that there is no new movement or emphasis in the church which wasn’t already established at the very beginning when Jesus came, delivered the message of the kingdom of God, and then died and rose again. In this, Jesus brought a new order here on earth – God’s kingdom and authority established to overturn the dominion of darkness and sin enslaving the hearts and minds of humankind. Jesus, the son of God, stepped down and said, “No more!” And, with the ultimate act of sacrifice, He gave his own life and blood as a substitution for our crimes and sin against a holy and loving God, our own creator.
As the church, Christ’s hands and feet in this world, we now continue His mission – bringing light and freedom, overturning the rule of darkness in individuals and regions, and establishing Jesus’ reign of love, grace, and ultimate freedom. It’s a Jesus revolution and it is His and our heart for all of Vancouver.

24/7 CHRISTIANITY

Our deepest desire as a church is that every area of our lives would radiate the transforming grace and love of God. We see our times together as vital; however, the moment our Christian experience becomes isolated to a Sunday or mid-week meeting, we are in danger of missing the point of why Jesus came. Jesus did not come for only part of us, as represented by church attendance on a Sunday; He came that we might have freedom from sin and abundant life in every area of our lives. We believe that our careers, workplaces, marriages, families, friendships, and recreation all become more abundant and purposeful when we put Jesus at the centre. 24/7 Christianity is stepping out of a religious mindset into a kingdom mindset, which expects God to show up in every area of our lives.

WORKING TOGETHER

God has one church made up of individual local churches. Together we make up Christ’s body in our city. We affirm the uniqueness and value of each church. We interrelate with the whole body – in our city, our region, our nation, our globe. As we build relationship and work together, we will see the full expression of God’s purpose for our city and land. We determine not to speak negatively about or harm in any way churches in our city, but rather to bless other church leaders and their members and to build unity in the body of Christ.
