Good Friday Service on the Beach

Lisa Russell

We are excited to meet together for the first time in a long time this Good Friday, 11am-12pm at Bachelor Bay Beach, West Vancouver. The recent ruling regarding religious in-person gatherings allow us to meet in groups of up to 50 in the outdoors. This is a wonderful opportunity and fits perfectly with our annual Good Friday service, which we have usually held outdoors. The service will include two or three songs for meditation, proclamation and reflection; a short message; communion; and an open sharing time.

There are a couple things, however, that we need from you to make this happen:

  • Register your attendance here  https://rsvp.church/r/Q9iHfdyr. We need you and the members of your family / friends to pre-register your attendance. And If you have already RSVP’d to me via email, please re-register using the enclosed form. Unfortunately, we cannot admit anyone who has not registered ahead of time.
  • We have allotted 100 spaces and if we have more than 50 people register, we will divide into two groups at two separate beaches.
  • We will be complying with the BC orders for outdoor gathering http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/community-settings/faith-based-spiritual-and-worship-practices. So anyone 12 years and older will have to wear a mask. And also family groups will be spaced by social distancing. We all have been doing this for over a year now, so we trust everyone understands what is required.

Our ability to continue to peaceably gather in this manner will depend on each of us doing our best to respect the government’s requests. We recognize that this will be difficult for some. As a leadership, we are encouraging us a body to see the opportunities and the blessing in this rather than the added restrictions. And also to continue to focus our gaze on Jesus and the incredible blessing we enjoy through His sacrifice for us on the cross.

We look forward to seeing you soon. We have always had decent weather on Good Friday for our services. However, please bring appropriate clothes in the event that the weather shifts. Here is a map to Batchelor Bay https://goo.gl/maps/qnsEagwsM5tMyTY89 for those who haven’t been before. There is parking all the way along Dufferin Avenue leading to the beach.

Easter Sunday

Lisa Russell

In spite of the continually changing context in which we live, we are grateful and celebrate the fact that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. This Easter we participate and remember the greatest story every told, that “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Revolution Church invites you to join us for our Easter Sunday Service online. Please logon to our youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaiAK5IONwCwEOdahHlvWOQ or Facebook Live https://www.facebook.com/RevolutionChurchVancouver at 10am Sunday. If anything changes regarding in-person services, we will notify you by email and also post it here on our website. Be blessed and let’s worship the King of kings and Lord of lords together!

Laying the Foundation Video Series

Lisa Russell

The crown jewel of Derek Prince’s archive of teaching is the Foundations for Christian Living Series. It is a thorough initiation into the six elementary principles of the Christian life found in Hebrews 6:1-3.  Derek Prince often pointed out that some believers who want higher truths and deeper revelations aren’t in a position to receive them. Why? Because the basic foundations listed in Hebrews 6 have not been established in their lives.  God withholds some spiritual insights from us until our structure is sound enough to handle them. This video series will enable you to build your own proper foundation.

If you are not already familiar with Derek Prince, he is a widely recognized bible teacher who also walked in great authority, especially in the area of deliverance. He is deceased now but, his love and understanding of the Word of God has left a legacy, which the leadership of Revolution Church has drawn from regularly. His look and manner of speaking is a bit old fashioned, but his teaching is as relevant and useful now as it has ever been.

This course will be offered every other Monday night from 7:30 – 9:00 on Zoom starting January 25th. Participants will be required to preview the video and discussion questions before the session each week. An accompanying book can be purchased on Amazon and makes for excellent supplementary reading and reference.

We request that you signup so that we can assign the appropriate number of breakout rooms and facilitators on Zoom. You can do this by emailing your intent to participate to info@revolutionvancouver.com.

Here are the resources so that you can start watching the videos and studying the notes today:

This is an excellent series and we look forward to gathering together soon to discuss what we are learning.

Christmas Advent Series

Lisa Russell

We may be at home but we don’t have to celebrate Christmas alone. You are invited to join us live at Revolution Church on Facebook Live and Youtube at 10am Sundays to celebrate the Christmas season together. Starting Sunday, November 29th and leading up to Christmas Eve, Revolution Church invites you to share the wonder  of the story and person of Jesus – His birth, life, and eventual return. With seasonal songs and carols, scripture reading and preaching, we prepare our hearts for the promise of Jesus Christ.

Training in Leadership Course

Lisa Russell

Calling all leaders! In case you are now looking behind or beside you, We are actually calling you! This 6 – 8 week course will be offered on Monday evenings starting September 28th from 7:00 – 8:30pm at The Hub (instead of what would usually be connect groups). This is a strategic decision in this season as we believe that it is a time for the activation and release of God’s people into kingdom leadership in all aspects of society. Whether you are called to lead in the church or to lead in the home, the marketplace, the school system, or somewhere else, we highly recommend your attendance. In addition to exploring the principles and practice of Kingdom leadership, we will also be discussing biblical leadership as pertains to Revolution Church’s vision and values and how these principles influence the way leadership should act and govern. This course will be offered in -person and also live online. We will also be offering childcare for parents who wish to attend in-person.

Fall Sermon Series. Matthew.

Lisa Russell

Aligning our hearts and minds with Jesus and the Kingdom of God is essential to not only survive but thrive during this unprecedented time. With this in mind, we want to get back to actual words and acts of Jesus. What did Jesus say, and what did He do? And how can we align our heart and minds with Jesus to be really useful to advancing the Kingdom of God. The question we need to ask is: Are we really open? And do you expect to be changed? We trust as we open The Gospel according to Matthew and dive into the words, context and stories of Jesus, that the Holy Spirit will lead us into true repentance and our hearts and minds will be forever changed.
